Build a model provider
A provider connects Glixo Code to a model service. The Rust template implements the glixo:llm/provider-compat@2.0.0 interface for an OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
Create and run the template
Follow the complete local development tutorial. Start with a test endpoint you control, then replace the generated request and response handling as needed.
Configure an account
The generated schemas/account.json describes account settings. The host resolves secrets when it invokes the component. Never bake a real API key into the manifest, Rust code, package, or examples.
Request network access
The template requests http.client for the host supplied to --permission-host. Keep this host list narrow. Declaring a permission does not grant it: the application must approve access before the provider can use it.
Test beyond the happy path
Run glxdev test for contract coverage. Test your endpoint with valid and invalid credentials, streamed responses, cancellation, timeouts, and malformed responses. Confirm that errors help users fix their account settings without exposing secrets.
Release
Build, package, and verify before following publisher setup. Package integrity and publisher authorization are separate checks.
Native providers
glxdev new --kind trusted-native-csharp --language csharp creates a source example for application development. It must be compiled and registered by a trusted host build. Use the Rust template for the packaged provider workflow.
